Got a burn mark or an old stain in your good carpet that just won't lift? Has the dog
torn up your family room Berber? Frustrated because your carpet is only a few
years old and now you think it has to be replaced?
We can help with our transplanting service. With the use of a special iron and tape,
we can simply cut-out the unsightly section of carpet and replace it with a new piece.
If there is no remnant piece available, we can swap the damaged piece with a section
from an unseen area of your home such as in a closet or under a large piece of
furniture.
The transplant process
We begin by finding a matching piece of carpet large enough to fit the damaged
area. This can be either a remnant or a piece swapped out from another area.
After it has been determined that we have a replacement piece available, the
damaged section is carefully cut out and the new section is trimmed precisely to
make a good fit.
Now the special seaming tape is put in place and the work area is cleaned of all loose
debris.
A special seaming iron is used to permanently bond the repair. Traditional
seaming irons limit our ability to do small repairs in the center of the room, so we
use this "Cool Glide" microwave iron. It allows us to set up the repair and bond the
tape after the repair is in place, rather than having to heat up the tape directly and
quickly trying to set in the repair before the tape cools. STEAMING MAD! gives a
lifetime warranty on the bonded repair for as long as you own your home.
Finally, a roller is used to spread out the fibers and any trim pieces are re-installed.
